SUPERCROSS KNOWLEGDE: ANAHEIM 1

opening ceremony

by Broc Bridges

1 . Ken Roczen earned his 10 th victory in his forty eight th profession 450SX Class start. The triumph ties him with Mike LaRocco and Broc Glover on the perfect 450SX class win list.

2 . Roczen has now earned a 450SX class race upon three different brands.

3. Roczen became the first rider in Supercross history to earn a season opening race on three different brands: KTM, Suzuki, Honda.

0q7a9692 Kenny made it look easy within Anaheim. The question is, can he keep the ball rolling?

4. Honda had not earned the season opening victory since 2005 (Kevin Windham). Honda was also on a 20 race losing streak (Round 14 2015, Cole Seely).

5. Honda now provides 210 Supercross victories (34 seasons with a win).

a1-aftermath-0601 Can’ t believe it is often 12 long years since Honda won a season opener.

6. Ryan Dungey made profession start number 118. It was their 90 th career podium.

seven. In Dungey’s eight season opening starts, he has never won, but has earned seven podium coatings and a fourth.

mid-week-2-0519 Ryan was happy getting onto the box.

6. Marvin Musquin earned his sixth career podium.

9. Jason Anderson was unable to win back-to-back opening races, yet still rode his way to his 18 top five finish in 34 career 450SX starts.

0q7a8092 Last year, Jason Anderson was the season opener winner.

10. Eli Tomac rounded out the top five in Anaheim with his 28 th top five finish in forty eight career starts.

eleven. Chad Reed finished 20 th in the period opener. He has now started 16 consecutive season opening races and only finished outside of the top-10 three times.

mid-week-2-0042 We only can wait and see what happens next week with Eli. He was operating well and pumped up in the primary dropping him back. He ought to be fighting for the win.

12. Making his 450SX class debut, Cooper Webb earned a ten th place finish.

13. Suzuki had more riders in the main occasion than any other brand: Suzuki-6, Honda/KTM- 5, Yamaha- 3, Kawasaki- 2, Husqvarna- 1 .

mid-week-2-0299 It is crazy to think that the Suzuki RM-Z450 which hasn’ t changed in years had the most bicycles in the main. It is the privateers choice of bicycle for Supercross.

ANAHEIM 1: COMMENTS FROM THE RACERS

a1-pits-6763 A1 came plus went.

MARTIN DAVALOS

0q7a7819 Martin landed to the podium in the first round. Not a bad start to the series.

“I haven’t ran West coast in a long time. I actually struggled a little bit today. I could not find my happy medium. I actually definitely balled the track–it had been pretty slick. We made plenty of changes throughout the day. I tried to about the start and do my best, however the guys out front were better than me today. I need to do my homework this week and take it one particular race at a time. ”

JASON ANDERSON

a1-practice-7046 This is Jason’ s year to kick it into high gear. He did well for not being behind a gate considering that he got landed on on the MXDN in Italy .

“A1 was pretty decent. I struggled with the setup earlier in the day but we made some changes and I was able to come through the pack to get fourth. All-in-all, it wasn’t too bad. ”

RYAN DUNGEY

mid-week-2-0269 Can Ryan make it three titles this year?

“It has been my first time back on the gate in a while but no standard excuses, I feel like we’re off to some pretty decent start. I’m pleased with the ride and I’m capable to move forward this season. The track has been rough and tough tonight, it would reach out and bite you if you weren’t careful. Kenny was using really well tonight, I didn’t have anything for him. The start had been key and you had to get out presently there and go right off the bat. ”

MARVIN MUSQUIN

mid-week-2-0578 Roger congratulates Marvin on his 3rd location finish.

“It feels really good to be on the podium tonight, especially at Anaheim I actually, it was big. I knew I used to be capable and it’s just actually awesome to see the work that we put in while in Florida pay off. It was a tough track tonight so I’m really happy to be on the podium and I’m looking forward to making some more adjustments with the bike and continuing the momentum. ”

SHANE MCELRATH

two-stroke-pipes-8824 Shane won their first ever AMA pro race with A1. What a feeling that must have already been.

“That’s what we should do during the week – practice with our teammates and try to race tough with people behind you pressuring a person. It was tough to be consistent lap after lap – the track was pretty tough but when you make a mistake you just kind of shake it away from and try not to let the nerves get to you. We definitely put in the task, we didn’t have high targets but we knew what we did. ”
