It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to go camping and riding with a bunch of inspiring and talented women. Early on Fri, April 28th Serena and I loaded up the Bonnier Motorcycle Group’s Nissan van with camping gear and headed out to Gorman, California. I was headed to the ladies-only camping and riding trip called Babes In The Dirt 3 hosted by Ashmore & Anya, the creators of the growing Babes Ride Out activities. Babes Ride Out (BRO) started as a girl’s weekend, motorcycle outdoor camping trip on a dry lake bed in Borrego Springs and rapidly turned into an official event and manufacturing to help connect on- and off-road female motorcycle riders. On the BROTHER website it states, it will “always be a riding focused event therefore every aspect of the location had to be riding centric. ”

I’m sitting here still amazed at what a cool experience it was. The Babes Ride Out team make every single girl feel welcomed, plus there were over 500 girls within attendance. I met a few solitary travelers who tagged onto the rides. I got to hang out with old friends and meet a lot of new ones. No drama in the event, just girls having fun plus riding dirt bikes.

Sierra of Thousand Oaks Powersports helped me out plus fixed my leaky fork close off before I headed out on the particular trails on Saturday. Huge appreciate it to Thousand Oaks Powersports pertaining to bringing out mechanics and donating their own time to help set up, fix and adjust bikes. Yes, only a few dudes got the golden ticket to moto chick fest.

Our 1st adventure aboard our dirt scooters was a beginner’s ride for my fellow female co-workers who have recently taken up the sport, which makes me thrilled that I have more women to ride with. Sadie, Serena, Mary Hannah & Nichole work with me for the parent company, Bonnier Motorcycle Group, and were bike-less so Honda loaned the girls a CRF250X, two CRF230F’s and a CRF150F. My friend Alleigh from PCI Race Radios hidden the ride helping stopped cyclists get going again. Thank you Rally Alleigh! We both have the PCI Race Radios moto kit, so we were able to connect about the riders, upcoming obstacles plus navigation. Seeing the smiles upon new riders’ faces always makes me so happy.

We returned to camp together, made a few lunch, relaxed and hung away. I was waiting for a few more of my friends to demonstrate up to do some of the more advanced trails with the girls that ride 100% better than me and who I actually regularly try to keep up with. Once they got there, we took off on a fun and fast ride through some turbulent trails on the ridgeline. Teaching somebody how to ride and then ripping around with some really fast girls are very different feelings, but both are equally rewarding.

My friend Jen from Alta Motors, who is super-fast and a complete badass on a streetbike, did a few trips with me and we had a blast. One particular guy that was on the same trail ended at the end to ask about the Redshift electric bike. I think they were amazed that it was actually out on the paths and not at the moto track near to its charging station.

Late in the day just before the sun set in the sky, See See Motorcycles hosted a mini bike race. Girls duked it out on the homemade ripped track and it was pure amusement. Surprisingly, everyone came out of battle in one piece.

Husqvarna brought out 20 or more bikes for women to demo ride. Not only did they get to ride brand new 2017 bikes, demo riders also got to hit the trails with Ashley Fiolek, Mike Brown, Andy Jefferson! Husqvarna is a big ally and often encourage women to ride motorcycles at events like these and so they even do an internal ride day for their female employees. How cool is that?! Husqvarna’s Jenna, Vanessa, Taylor, Laura, Anthony and Scott worked long days to get through the list of all the ladies signed up for rides aboard the new devices.

WLF enduro guys

WLF enduro guys' wives came out to ride as well as the guys stopped by with a monetary gift of firewood to keep us warm at night.

Sibel Racing brought out a grip insert of loaner gear for bikers to try out during the weekend rides. WLF Enduro came out and gifted the Babes with firewood for the cold desert nights. (I heard it got down to 30 degrees upon Friday night. )

The whole event had been free to any girls who registered, and it was surely worth it to help make the journey out! We’re already looking towards the next Babes In The Dirt 2018, sign up for future events and get more info at www.BabesRideOut.com.
